How the Shelter Is Built
Corrugated steel roof and back — the folded profile gives this custom corrugated steel firewood shelter its rigidity, so a long run stays straight without heavy box sections.
Arched roof line — the curve throws rain and meltwater clear of the open face instead of letting it pool and drip onto the logs you are about to carry inside.
Galvanised base — the part closest to the soil is treated for damp ground, so the frame is not the first thing to give way.
Raised stack height — air moves under the pile as well as through it, which is the difference between firewood that seasons and firewood that goes soft.
Wide open front — no lid to lift and no door to unbolt; logs go in from the front and the oldest splits come out from the same side.

Stacking and Seasonal Routine
1.Stack the splits loose, leaving gaps between pieces and between rows, so air reaches the middle of the pile and not just the outer layer.
2.Take logs from the open face and refill from the back, so whatever you burn next has spent the longest time under the roof.
3.Clear bark, leaves and snow from the base line each season; debris packed against the frame traps moisture exactly where it does the most damage.
4.Top up in late summer and early autumn, giving new splits time to settle in before the fire is running every evening.
5.After a storm, check that the front splits have not shifted forward past the edge of the roof.
Siting, Drainage and Practical Limits
Level, free-draining ground — paving, a gravel apron or compacted hardcore all work; standing water under the frame cancels out the benefit of a raised base.
Working room in front — leave clear ground at the open face so an armful of logs can be carried in and out without stepping around the corner.
Nothing discharging onto it — keep gutters, downpipes, overhanging branches and roof runoff from washing over the shelter or into the open face.
Measure the run first — this is a long, low unit, so check the wall, gable or fence line it will sit against before committing to a position.
Built for volume, not for the hearthside — this is a store for a working outdoor pile, and a few logs kept beside the fire are a different job.
Factory Supply and Custom Orders
Decent Crafts has manufactured metal-iron products in Fujian, China since 2008, and this shelter is one line in a range that also covers fire pits, fireplace tools and screens, firewood racks, log holders, bins and carts. As a firewood storage shelter manufacturer we work directly with importers, wholesalers, trade buyers and private-label brands, and bespoke work is part of normal production rather than a special case. Orders start at 100 sets, samples are ready in 7-15 days, bulk delivery runs 30-45 days, goods ship from Xiamen port, and we accept L/C and T/T. Several firewood formats can travel together in one shipment from the same factory.

FAQ
Q1. Is half a cord the right size, or should I go larger?
Half a cord suits a household that lights a fire most evenings through the heating season, and it is also the right size for a holiday let or a backyard fire pit used at weekends. If the buyer heats with wood full time, plan two units side by side rather than one oversized store. A 1/2 cord firewood storage shelter loads more easily, keeps air moving through the pile, and can be repositioned if the layout of the yard changes.
Q2. How do the logs cope with driving rain and wind?
The arched roof overhangs the pile and the back wall takes the brunt of the weather, so logs near the open face stay dry in ordinary rain. On an exposed site, face the opening away from the prevailing wind and keep the front row pushed back slightly from the roof edge. Treated this way the shelter slows the weather down rather than sealing it out, which is exactly what split firewood needs.
Q3. What length of logs fits inside the shelter?
Q4. Can the shelter be made in a different size?
Yes — this is a custom corrugated steel firewood shelter, so the run length and height can be adapted to fit a specific wall, gable or loading pattern. We work from your picture or sample and confirm the details before anything goes into production. Send the dimensions you need and we will suggest the closest format.
Q5. Do I need to cover the open front to keep the wood dry?
No — the open face is the air intake, and it is what keeps the middle of the pile drying rather than holding moisture. Draping a tarp across it, or parking kindling boxes against it, stops that airflow and undoes most of the benefit of stacking under a roof. Loose-stacked splits behind an open front dry far better than a tight pile under a cover.
Q6. How is this different from a log rack?
A rack holds a hearth’s worth of logs indoors, within reach of the fire, while a shelter is built for volume outdoors with a roof, a back wall and a raised base so a large pile can season where it stands. We are a firewood storage shelter manufacturer, and our indoor racks, bins and carts come from the same works if you need to cover the hearthside as well. If most of the firewood lives outside and only a few logs come in at a time, the shelter is the one to lead with.
